About a year ago I purchased a portable recorder just to record
live events. However, I quickly discovered that MiniDisc is an
excellent
way to discover and listen to all types of music and artists I may be
unfamiliar with. MiniDisc has rapidly become my format of
choice. I like it's portability as it's takes up so much less room to
carry around a few MiniDisc's and a portable player in my bag than CD's and
a walkman. I also really like flexibility of MiniDisc to record
anything and either keep it or erase it. I've been know to record
anything from audio
books, nature sounds, rock concerts, radio news broadcast for later
listening, MP3s, etc. Generally if it makes noise a MiniDisc can
record it. Where else are you going to be able to get that much
flexibility to record anything and take it with you besides tape. You
can't erase a CD-R if you don't like what you put on it. Unless you
have a CD-RW capable portable player and who has those? And if you
decide you really like those MP3s you put on you portable MP3 player and
want to keep them, you'll have to shell out a bundle of money for more
memory rather than spending in the neighborhood of $1.50 - $2.00 on
Discs.
As a music lover, I enjoy being able to trade music with other like
minded people and the MiniDisc format seems to be the best format for this
since it is relatively inexpensive to purchase blanks and if you don't like
the music you can always erase it and record something else on it.
Browse my list of music and see if anything tickles your fancy. If
it does drop me an e-mail and we'll see if we can
work out a trade.
I can record CD to MiniDisc digitally and MiniDisc to MiniDisc
digitally. Sorry, I don't have SCMS stripping capabilities.
